Mixture

250g

butter or margarine

250g

sugar

4

eggs

250g

self-raising flour

250g

ground hazelnuts
(difficult to obtain in the UK, you may have to grind your own)

150g

chocolate chips
(use more if you’re a chocoholic!)

2-3 tbsp

milk

 

a dash of rum (optional)

 

 

 

 

Covering

200g

chocolate cake covering (I normally use half milk, half plain; melted together)

 

 

Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs one at a time. Mix together flour and ground hazelnuts, add to the mixture. Add milk (and rum) to obtain a smooth consistency. Add chocolate chips.

Bake at 200 C for just under one hour.

Leave to cool, then cover with melted chocolate.
